Yashica Mat photos

And finally i could see the photos taken by the medium format Yashica Mat photos. I have to say that they are pretty good as for the first time with such camera. Especially when you consider some aspects:

First thing: exposure – have in mind that I had to have external light meter and based on that reading i had to set up correct time and aperture. When you take it into account the number 11 well exposured photos of 12 looks great (especially that 12th photo looks like taken at the end or at the beginning of the film – i have to check it…).

Second thing – the camera was used… it had to be fixed and cleaned. For example It didn’t keep the right timings for the shutter. For example you set 1/30s and you hear that shutter is open almost one second. It can just waste the shot when you assume that you can keep steadily camera at 1/30s and the shutter is open much longer. Well, fortunately I’ve recently found the great old technican-photographer who repairs such cameras and I gave him the camera to correct timings, as well to clean up the lens and mirrors, so hopefully next photos will be much better.

Third: the film – it’s okay, however it was one of the cheapest ones (Fomapan), so I cannot expect miracles, the next ones are really good: B&W: Kodak T-MAX 400 120, and Colour: Fujicolor Reala 100 120 – so the photographer here can be the limit :)

Well I must say I’m not completely satisfied with those photos, however the results are quite okay and promising. Hopefully the next ones will be better. One more thing – I have to say that analogue photos have the soul. The results given with the analogue camera are completely different when comparing to the digital ones… most of digital ones are missing something when compared to those.

Okay time to end writing this post and time to post the photos :)

First two photos were taken at the Orłowo Pier in Gdynia. People wandering around were curious abotu that two lens camera – something not usual in the age of digital SLRs available almost for everyone. The second photo was taken from the level of the ground or rather of the woods of the Pier.

This photo unfortunately is out of focus – probably because of the move of the hand during the process of taking the photo. I think that here can be blamed wrong timing of the camera – the shutter was opened much longer than planned 1/30s.

Those two photos were taken during the trip back home in the cities we were passing by. We spend some time in famous Garmisch village (1st photo) and later we had a stop in Regensburg – here you can see the nice view from the bridge at the Danube river.

Of course I had to try the Portrait with this medium format camera – it’s what for this camera was planned for. Maybe the results are not astonishing, however there can be something from it in the future, especially after the cleaning the camera… The last frame – the only one bad frame in the film – it’s not a digital camera as you can see. You can also see there’s some fluff on the lens – those white dots on the film, i hope that after cleaning such frame will be completely black.
