Well do you remember post ‘Fixing Yashica Electro’ ? I was changing there light seals of the camera and I wrote that we will have to wait for the first tests to check the results and whether I did it good. I did.
Of course the first film which was used for testing was old outdated Kodak Color Plus 200 which I bought for that purpose. 3-pack costed me 10 zł, that means that one package cost around 3,33 zł so less then 1 Euro. So if the light seals wouldn’t be right and I would overexposed the whole film it wouldn’t be a big deal.
Because the film is outdated – I think about one year (best before…) it’s parameters can be changed. A you’ll see on the photos the colors of that film are not natural ones. But I like it.
For the first tests I took the camera for a short walk around the old tenements of Wola district. Especially that I was around that area anyway… The results from that camera are really good. Maybe not perfect but really good anyway. The impact on the quality may be the the matter of the scanner (I have to do something about it soon)…
Okay now is the time to check out the photos. Look especially at those colors which are not natural, however they give the great ‘retro look’. By the way I managed to use two rolls of that film – next in the queue is B&W Agfa APX100 – and it will be the true test of that camera, especially that it can be compared to photos taken with Canon AE-1 with great 50mm lens.
Those photos with the persons at the gate light are really interesting… And I must admit that camera managed to set correct times and exposure… so maybe it’s not so bad camera ? For sure I there is no comparison to the russian rangefinder FED4 which I tested before.
Of course as always with the new camera there _must_ be a self-portrait in the mirror… of course the weirder mirror and reflection the better.
