Yashica 44 with 35mm film

A free evening. Time for things which are waiting in the queue to take care of them. First – fixing the Yashica Electro 35 (the gallery from the advanced repair part 2 is still waiting for posting). After exposing the whole colour film Solution VX200 for 1.50zł (developing the film costs 8.50zł so it\s 6 times more expensive than the film itself) it returned to me totally underexposed. In fact almost all photos were completely black. There were just 3 or 4 photos where some weak lights were visible in the darkness… After scanning one of them I’ve given up that process and just throw away that film. After short investigation I’ve noticed that light-meter and the shutter times are selected correctly, but the aperture doesn’t change when moving the aperture ring. It was always in minimum aperture: f/22, almost all photos taken was with set apertures f/1.7-f/4, so all photos where heavily underexposed because of that. After a short time I’ve corrected that problem with the camera. Now there is a new, more expensive film is inside (Outdated Kodak Color ISO200 – almost 3PLN :) ) and camera is waiting for re-testing…

ANother task that evening – I’ve decided finally to try recently bought Yashica 44. My plan was to convert it to make possible load standard 35mm film. Normally it needs special Type 127 film which is produced only by EFKE kompany, and it’s quite expensive (almost 30 PLN per film). With the help of the tutorial by Hans Marvell prepared and documented on flickr I’ve modified camera to load normal film. The camera is waiting now for the tests loaded of course with the best and cheapest film I had ;).

Below you can see some photos of the Yashica 44 loaded with 35mm film.
