Recently i’ve visited Włocławek and noticed many changes in that city since my previous visit. Especially a new recent event was the opening of the New Wzorcownia (url: Wzorcownia). It’s a revitalized site of the disused pottery factory. In those buildings all the well known desing patterns – flowers and leaves of Włocławek’s pottery was thought up that’s why such name was chosen – Wzorcownia – the place where the new patterns and designs are invented. The New Wzorcownia consists of of four buildings: a modern shopping centre, a recreation/entertainment centre and two residential buildings with stores and services on ground floors… It really looks nice and really fits to the environment. Especially those red bricks… I still remember the old pottery factory, old red bricks, but i have to say that this new revitalized buidings looks nice, and are well adopted for the new purposes while still keeping the character and memories of the past. Unfortunately i haven’t my DSLR camera with me so sorry for the quality of the photos but i thought it’s worth to take some shots with my phone… just have a look at the nowadays Wzorcownia…
Here you can see the Christmas Tree in front of the Wzorcownia building. #2 is the name and the main entrance. #3 is the photo of one of seldom visited corners of the new builidng… As you can see inside it have similar character as outside. I’m really curious how it will look like during the summer… maybe some terrace on the roof will be opened ?
#1 is the view at the Plac Wolności – main Circus of Włocławek… If you could imagine how it looked like before the WWII and how it looks now… It’s really pity that history left it’s mark on the whole city… Maybe someday i show you historical photos and how it look like today. Photo #2 is the view at the entrance of the Wzorcownia from the higher floor. Photo #3 and #4 are the photos how it look like otside. #4 is the view at the main plaza in front of Wzorcownia ‘Plac Grodzki’ as i’ve read this spring the fountain should be standing at this place.
Now i would like you show you some photos how this place looked before… First photo is the photo of this area – Potter Factory after the bankruptcy of the company – around 1991…
And this photo (or drawing?) is the view from the today Plac Wolności at the Potter Factory (on the second plan) – those are these low and higher buildings… It was probably taken before the WWII.
BTW, do you remember my post one of the ugliest railway stations in Poland ? Here’s one of the photos:
When looking for old Pottery factory photos i found also how this station looked like before 1914 when it was demolished… It’s really pity that this building doesn’t exist today… Just have a look and cry…
