Warsaw Metro / Bielany

A few more photos from the Warsaw Metro taken at the northern part of the line – Bielany district. I really like taking photos with EOS350 with EF 28mm/2.8 lens attached. The camera is becoming quite light and small in that configuration. The only problem is the ISO, maximum setting is ISO 1600 and with that setting photos not in B&W are unusable because of the high grain. Camera is not perfect also when dealing with white balance. Even the custom setting is not perfect, especially when there is no white or gray surface around.

But even with those flaws it’s okay to take photos with that camera. Especially when there is enough light to change to ISO800 or even smaller. The lens when set to manual setting is great – you don’t hear the screwdriver of the motor-driven autofocus, and stopped to f/4 lens gives great sharp images.

I like to have that camera in my backpack (I cannot write in my pocket as it’s to big to fit there), especially in the evening – I’m not too confident and experienced to take photos with film after dark yet. With digital I can always check what went wrong… But I hope to train such evening photography with the film soon. Theoretically it’s so simple, just load the ISO3200 or at least ISO800 film and go hunting ;) If only such films weren’t so expensive, especially when you’ll find only a few shots properly exposed after developing. Another issue is when you load such high sensitivity film into camera you can’t use it during the daylight- and shooting 36 exp. during one evening when nothing special happens is pointless.

Nevertheless, just take a look at the photos taken recently in metro and at the street.

By the way, the latest photo course with it’s exercises was quite useful. Studio for the first time, and currently decided to shoot more at the manual – exposure and focus. Most of the photos above were taken with the manual setting. Now I’m planning to exercise at the digital hyperfocal value – to use that later on film cameras. Probably sooner or later you’ll see the results here…
