The Cross

Today was the action (khm… event?) of moving the cross from the front of the Presidential Palace at Krakowskie Przedmieście in Warsaw. The Thin Wooden Cross was erected here by polish scouts after the crash of the presidential plane when Polish President with the persons who accompanied him was killed (96 persons). Today is the subject of discord between Polish people – mostly elderly people and deeply religious or rather bigots and fanatics defend of this cross – saying that it should stay there. Major of Warsaw is saying that are better places to put such symbol of the accident, and this is not place for that.

Today with assist of polish scouts, priests and other persons they wanted to move it to the more proper place however it was defended by those persons – with banners and shouting strange slogans for example sth, about betrayal, return of communism, or even shouting to the priests who was there ‘Judas’

Yesterday they defended that cross… but the story continues…

“Witamy w PRL-u” – Welcome in People’s Republic of Poland (The full name of Poland during the Communist times) – suggestion that we are going back to the old times. Mostly those watchwords because of the decision that the cross will be taken away to the church (where imho should be) against to some people opinions – and decision to even use a force – The Police presence, the steel fence…
