After first successful test of Konica Pop when loaded with Equicolor, I’ve wanted to take that camera into a real action. In my fridge I had a roll of Polypan F ISO 50 waiting for the better times. I thought then that It will be a good idea to load Konica Pop with Polypan. Disadvantage of such configuration is that I have to shoot with Effective ISO 50 or 100 if I decide to force the development one stop. It’s just enough when shooting in the summer in bright sun. But we have Autumn now, and I usually lack of enough light so it quickly occurred that ISO 50 is not enough for the street in Autumn. So nothing more left then forcing development with EI 100, and quickly shoot film outside in the sun. The other thing was that I had to shoot whole film in October, as I promised to post at least one photo before last of October. Because of that I had to leave home earlier one day to take some street photos in the morning. The results you can see on the photos below.
First two photos were taken during short trip to Zakopane – capital of the winter sports in Poland.
Next three photos were taken during short walks in Gdańsk, by the way, probably chronologically those photos where before pictures from Zakopane.
Last part are the photos taken during short walks around the centre of Warsaw with the idea of taking street photos. Recently I found out that Sunday might be not be a perfect day for such photography unless I want to snap pictures of peacefully wandering people…
I must admit that I like the results of that experiment – Konica Pop with Polypan F. I was afraid of the grain when developing the film to get forced EI 100, but by mistake I missed the right proportions of the Xtol developer and water – I forgot that I keep Xtol condensed – and instead of the proportions 1:1 I developed in stock Xtol. Of course I corrected the development time for the new parameters. Development: 7,5min in stock Xtol in 23 degress Celsius, mixing continuous for the first 30s, later for the 5s every 30s. The results are surprisingly great – there is no sign of grain and the photos are well exposed (almost), of course I don’t count those shots where I took the photo knowing that there is too dark to take the photo with fixed iso 100 and minimal aperture f4 and fixed lens….
Photos like that one above win the photo competitions. I don’t know why.
Whatever.
From now I have such photo in my collection. I’m ready now to win some prize… I can even make up a some tear jerker story about a Women going home after 12 hour shift home to her 6 children, worrying about Tomasz who… In fact I know nothing about that woman. You know as much as I do. You can read expression from her face and make up your own story. I can only add you some details helping You to know the background of that photo.
I took that photo on Sunday afternoon at some smaller street at right angle to Marszałkowska street. The woman wasn’t in a hurry, she was just passing by… I hope It was her normal, good day without any drama expected by today’s world.
From now on you know as much as I do, and you can see that’s just a simple street photo of the person passing by.
