…every family has it’s own history So does mine. Sometimes it’s great to hear a great story and see some old photos (of course in reasonable amount). A few days ago I’ve received from my Aunt the old photos of my family members with question whether is possible to do something with them – like magnify and do some better prints. At first i didn’t know what for but when i saw them I understood.
The photos are very small that you barely see the persons on the photos… Probably you are curious why ? Well, they were taken during the WWII in Poland during the occupation – in 1940 in Włocławek at the Młynarska Street. It was forbidden to have the camera for polish people then . Persons who had the camera and were caught by the Nazis could be sent to the concentration camp… Those photos were taken by some young neighbor who was brave enough to hide and keep the camera. Probably that is also why those photos were so small – such photos were easy to hide, as well probably those prints where easy to do – no need to have a special magnifier to make bigger prints. Especially that such tool would be another problem – another thing to hide.
Because of those photo restrictions during the occupation those shots where shot in mystery, on very early morning. Everybody had to get up very early probably about 5am where there was no people in the streets and in the windows and could see the forbidden action – taking photos. Such activity was a great risk for everybody – for the photographer as well as for the photographed people.
The result you can see below – original photos of the family taken in 1940.
