It seems that I won’t be able to repair the Ricoh 500 G which I showed in one of the previous posts, the lightmeter seems to be broken, I’ve checked all connections and other things and I can’t find the problem – that’s why I’ve decided not to change the light seals because probably I won’t be able to fix that camera. I wanted to buy another 500G for the spares to take lightmeter out from there but somebody was quicker and bought it earlier. I’ll probably sell that 500G as broken.
So, previous camera will be usable in limited conditions (no lightmeter), that’s why I was hunting for another occasion. I was lucky and I’ve managed to find another cheap camera in a quite good state – Ricoh 500 RF. Camera is in working condition, however it have some small dents, and as usual with such cameras of that age – the light seals are rubbish. I had to exchange it and put there a brand new foam. I’ve also cleaned it up as it was quite dirty and unattractive. Also the camera leather-like case was dirty, you could smell that camera wasn’t used for a long time – after a good wash it look like brand new :).
Today I assembled this camera and I loaded color film to test whether everything works. I hope it does… Euro 2012 is a good occasion to test such a nice lens. I hope to finish the film tomorrow morning to give the film to the lab.
