New toy. EOS 5D Mark II

New toy: Canon EOS 5D Mark II – finally full frame in digital. I had to sell old body EOS 50D, and two very good lens EF-S 17-55 f/28 IS, and Sigma 10-20 F4-5.6 EX DC to have enough money to buy used 5D Mark II. Those lens wouldn’t fit to the FF anyway. I managed to buy on the auction camera with very low shutter count 13K, and in very good condition without any scratches or other use marks, and of course I have full package straps, cables, instructions etc.

The first impression is very good – I think I will like that camera. The only disadvantage is that 5D doesn’t have flash mounted, but I probably won’t miss that – I seldom used it with 50D – better to use external one. The only situation when the mounted flash was useful when I wanted to light some caves when not having the torchlight. With the cons comes pros : especially narrow depth of field (DOF) on the FF camera, I really like great photos with narrow DOF.

To take some photos I have to dust off some lens from the shelf – EF 28mm f/2.8 and standard EF 50mm f/1.8. Especially that first one I haven’t used for a long time. I even almost lost it in the sand at the seaside – now this lens become useful – it’s quite a nice fixed focal wide lens – when mounted on 50D it was almost standard : 28*1.6= 44,8mm, but now I like that lens more ;)

Below some first photos taken with 5D Mark II.

My first photos outside. I went too late for a photo walk I took only one photo with traditional camera – later on I had to take out the new 5D Mark II for a test drive.
These photos were taken around the De Gaulle roundabout in Warsaw.

And this a famous corner: Nowy Świat and Al. Jerozolimskie. I stopped here for a moment to catch some pedestrians in the frame. This corner is famous because in 50s there was a well known polish photographer who was standing by the corner and was taking photos by surprise all people showing up at the corner. Those photos now are a great memento how Warsaw’s citizens looked like in the 50s.

First photo was the last at the bus stop at nowy Świat street. Last two were taken at the Plac Zbawiciela (in English, Savior Square). You can see the rainbow there – they tried to burn it twice even though there are cameras around. Fortunately they will rebuild the rainbow once again.
