With some adventures we finally managed to come to the capital of the Uruguay – Montevideo.

We started our trip on the early morning. The day didn`t started too good – when we woke up we´ve heard rain… however we decided to be optimistic and decided that Buenos Aires cries after our leave… and in Uruguay the weather will be different.

So that day we started our trip taking the Subte (Underground) to the port where our ferry was – the Buquebus terminal. At 9.30 we had our Buque to the Colonia de Sacramento in Uruguay.

Of course we chose the cheaper version of the trip across the Plata river – so we had to travel 3 hours to the destination port. Normally with the quick ferry it takes about 1 hour. However the trip was nice – we had our one wine, bought a few empanadas (it´s really great ! dumpling with minced meat – empanada con carne…) and we spent that travel really nice.

Then we decided to leave our backpacks at the storage at the bus station and to sightsee the town. Colonia de Sacramento is on the UNESCO list as heritage. And i have to say that´s very nice. However we felt on every step that we are off season – it´s spring here and the seasing is going to start soon.

Empty streets, closed shops… but it was great – not so many tourists… After wandering a while, visiting the lighthouse, we decided to eat something. We´ve been looking for the plato del dia… and we found a good promotion. For the U$299 (Uruguayan Pesos) we bought speciality of the region – two chops of meat with cheese, ham, and egg on top of it, and a lot of salat and french fries. And as an addition 1L of local Uruguayan beer. After dinner we went for the bus to the Montevideo. After 2,5h travel we came to the three crosses station (Tres Cruces) and we´ve been waiting about 1 hour for the bus. Resigned we went on foot through the middle of the dangerous district of MOntevideo towards the old town and our hostel. WIth the little help and quick ride we showed up in the front of the hostel doors… Then we were told that only today there is a strike and there is no buses as well as taxis… that´s why we could wait for the next bus all day and night…

So here i am at the Montevideo hostel and we have plans for tomorrow all day and half of night sightseeing of the city as we have already our tickets to the next stop by – Salto (URU) on our way to the Iguazu Falls in Argentina…
