Today the post with photos taken with Konica Auto S3 loaded with Ilford HP5 Plus. The cassette of HP5 plus was loaded from the long bulk roll of the HP5 – the film has markings ‘safety’ which shows that it’s from the bulk roll. I wonder what it means eg. whether there is a difference when compared to the boxed HP5. HP5 with Konica Auto gives really nice results with a nice grain when developed in Ilford ID-11 developer. The only disadvantage of that configuration is that I have to be very careful when shooting with that camera. I’ve found that some photos from that camera are blurred, slightly out of focus without reason. I found in the net that I’m not the only one with that problem and probably it’s mostly because little weight of camera and camera shake during pressing the shutter button at slower shutter times like 1/30, 1/60s. When pressing the button at slower times camera shakes during press of the shutter button and small weight of camera doesn’t help in stabilizing the camera. That’s why you have to press shutter button very gently and avoid longer times of the shutter. Knowing that – photos from that camera looks better – only sometime when conditions are though or when I forget about it there can be a problem when checking the results.
This time I remembered about that and most of the photos are sharp and on focus – and when thank to HP5 the middle greys are very nice with a lot of details in the shadows and nice greys. I even in a few photos corrected a little bit result adding more contrast and blacks to give more convincing result which I like.
I like that film and I regret that I bought only two rolls as this film was quite cheap. I hope I will find such occasion again.
Another photo I like. Greys and grain is nice here however here I slightly added a little of blacks and contrast. But here I really like the moment I managed to capture here – man without a head.
Exit from the Centrum metro station. Really sharp even though situation was quite hard – probably there was longer time used here. Probably I remembered here to set up distance correctly and to press shutter button gently
Now the serie of four photos taken in Gdańsk taken in January during during one of the weekends.
Bonus – traditional photo at the mirror. Probably it was the last frame left to develop the film – as some people say that photo has signs of the ‘last photo on the roll syndrome’.
