I haven’t been at Gdańsk Stogi Beach for some time. I think the last time I’ve been there about 1,5 year ago during summer. It’s one of the best beaches in Gdańsk even though it’s very close to the Gdańsk Container Port which is clearly visible on the left from the beach. The beach here is very wide, and the sand is very clean with a nice color. It’s very clean here and during the summer there is not many people on the beach – mostly local people from Stogi or Przeróbka districts, and some tourist who were brave enough to travel long time with tram No 8 to the terminus called ‘Stogi Plaża’. Tram No 3 have a terminus a little earlier at the end of the Stogi district with the stop ‘Stogi – Pasanil’. There is not many gastronomy points here, and during the summer there are only a few stands with traditional items like swimsuits, inflatable float swimming rings or some souvenirs named with letters ‘G D A Ń S K S T O G I’.
Now at the end of the winter and beginning of spring that place looks even more peaceful. I must admit that I like it – it looks like the small beach in some small village not one of the beaches in the 3City. I like also those three beach cabins – or shopping stands – closed at that time of year. They remind me the photos of the beach cabins somewhere on famous beaches of UK or Australia.
I’ve ended my visit at Stogi plaża with a short walk along the shore – in the woods. You can find there a few bunkers from the WWI period. I’ve saw only two ‘Bateria Leśna’ i ‘Bateria Wiejska’ from year 1911. But in the opposite direction you can find more. They were built to guard the entrance to the Gdańsk port.
For sure the walk will be much nicer in may when it will be warmer.
A few last photos where taken on the same day in the evening – when doing some evening shopping. I’ve decided not to post it as a separate post so treat it as a bonus ;)
Take a look, I hope you’ll like it and you will feel the atmosphere of that place.
Some additional photos from Saturday…
