Finally I’ve managed to publish some photos from the flood or rather high water not seen here in Mazovia long time ago. It’s because of the heavy rains all over Poland, especially south of Poland were rivers grow big with water from rain. Especially the Vistula – the biggest of Polish rivers became dangerous, south to the Warsaw – Sandomierz was flooded mostly because of the old anti-flood-banks which have been broken because of the lasting high waters on Vistula River. Finally the wave of that water came to Warsaw – on 21st of May about 7pm was the highest level of river – i took some photos around 2-3pm – from then the level rose about 10-20 cm… Take a look how it looked from the safer bank of Vistula – on the opposite side at the Praga district – near ZOO the situation was much more serious – even the sand bags was needed to stop the water coming to the ZOO… Take a look at the photos:
Here you can see the bike track under the water at the boulevards of Vistula…
And the ‘Warszawa’ boat swimming at the brown Vistula – near you can see almost 1/3 of lamp under water…
Other photos:
Here some photos near the Gdańsk Bridge ‘Most Gdański’ – 2/3 of the lamp visible above the water, as well as the trash can almost whole hidden under the brown water. Other shot is the view from the stairs going up to the road on the bridge…
There was a lot of television around – they were transmitting the news with the view at the Vistula and the bridges to show people rising level of water. Here you can see the stairs going underwater. Before the flood there was a nice pedestrian pavement below… You can even see part of the bench… From this bench it was close to the high concrete bank of the river (about 1-2m depending on the amount of water in river).
Going farther to the next bridge – this time you can see the tree in the water, where earlier was a quite a nice walk. On the next photo you can see the ship ‘Warszawa’ which was quite self despite the trap was under the water as well as the departure board. You can see even the water tram stop – the timetable is close to the line of the water making it difficult to read ;)
For those photos i’ve changed the lens for the wide one – just to take photos of the whole ship and surroundings. Nice photos of the ship as well as the boulevard and the bridge. You can see the amount of people wandering around despite it was the middle of the day.
