Well, I finally managed to develop (in photo lab unfortunately) two films from Canon AE-1. I don’t have my own film scanner that’s why i have to give it to the studio to scan the film. I must say that results are mixed. – some are exceptionally good and some are really bad. Some photos are out of focus mostly because the Makinon lens I own have long minimal focusing distance – 2,5 m (!) – in many situations i still wanted to take a picture so the result of it you can guess ( i wanted to use macro option which allowed me to take photos of objects closer than minimal distance, but mostly those photos are out of focus). Some photos are heavy-grained mostly because of the not-so-high ISO’s of the films I’ve used (I’ve used Konica ISO200 and Fuji Superia X-tra 400).
What’s strange those photos taken with Konica ISO200 film which was about 5-year after it’s validity period are great ! Maybe there is a difference in colors, but for me there is a huge difference between digital photos and film ones. You really feel soul in those photos – some of them are really exceptional without any Photoshop tunning.
And now the positives – some photos are really great ! especially the colors and the scene itself, the image is very sharp with high contrast… some of the photos feel like old – when taken in difficult conditions (fog, evening etc.).
It’s really interesting and I’m planning to do some next steps in that kind of photography. For sure I must buy some other lens with shorter minimal distance for portraits and walk around photos. Probably Canon 50 f/1,8…
Ok. Now time for some photos – first ones those from Warsaw (not the best ones) – taken during walking around the PKiN and the Centrum Metro station:
And now some other from Warsaw… I don’t know why but i like them.
And now some photos from Gdańsk in the lens of the AE-1’s Makinon…
Still Fuji Superia X-tra 400.
