EFKE 127 – 4×4 B&W

Recently I’ve managed to develop and scan the film EFKE 127 R 100 from Rolleiflex 4×4 Gray Baby. I had to find a lab which could do that because it’s non standard film nowadays, so it can be done only in manual process. I’ve found the lab which specializes in White&Black photography http://www.czarno-biale.pl – just in case if you need… Photos on that film was taken mostly during the “Big Day” and a few days before – so I hoped that film was exposured correctly and at least a few photos would be good, especially that longer shutter times in this Baby Rollei lags a little bit, so some photos could be over-exposured.

Of course that was also another test for the new scanner – I had some problems to scan the non-standard and not longer popular film 127 – 4×4. The scanner is missing the frame for scanning for this format. There are only slides, 35mm film strips, and 6×6 medium format frames. Epson software also is not prepared to scan such format. However I’ve managed to scan it somehow.

First check the paper strip how the back side of the film look like…

Here you can see the close up if you want… as you can see the numbers on the back side of the paper shows the film frame, number of the photo taken. For example in Yashica 44 you have small window on the back side of the camera, and when you load the film you have to set the film to see the number 1 in the window.

Well the results – a few photos are really good. I’ve processed them a little bit – especially the levels and the contrast. Some were a little bit overexposed, so I had to correct it with sliders a little bit. But the result is really great. I really like those photos. What a pity that I have to sell that Baby Rollei – but it’s too expensive for the everyday use – I hope the Yashica 44 will be a good substitute…

Take a look.

First two photos from were taken the day before. Quite a difficult shot and it’s not perfect – a little bit out of focus… but those were one of the first on the film…

Next shots were taken during the morning preparations, I think except the first one – which was taken at the Sobieszewo Island one day before. As you can see we had also digital camera with us. This time Ania as a photographer :)

Next two photos were taken in the morning of the October the 1st, after leaving the hairdressing salon. I had to catch that moment on the film :) The first photo is just great, and second would be nice also, except that is a little bit out of focus. I had to work more and train focusing with the TLR and zooming lens.

The last three photos were taken late morning during the make up. Despite no room at the small porch the girls let me to take some shots during the preparations. Believe me taking shots with that camera is not so quick – fortunately I had a lot of time to catch some nice frames :) They are not perfect especially the composition could be better, as well the moment of pressing the shutter of the camera could be selected better – faces could be more visible, lines and levels could be straight – ‘the wall is falling’… in fact for me it’s doesn’t matter – I like them anyway.

The last photo of us was taken with the self-timer – what a nice couple :)
