I usually use my Fujifilm X100S as everyday camera. It’s relatively small and light, and gives wonderful photos. For me this camera is just perfect for the street. This time I also planned to take that camera with me but finally I’ve changed my plans. The old Tamron 17-55 f/2.8 XR Di-II was laying on the desk – waiting for a free moment to photograph it and sell on the auction portal. I knew that lens is intended for the Canon cameras with smaller APS-C sensor – and it can’t (shouldn’t) be used with full frame camera. I didn’t know that this Tamron can be attached without problems to Canon 5D mark II. Canon lens dedicated for the APS-C sensors have a special mount with ‘white dot’ and slightly modified mount EF-S which prevents them to attach to the full frame camera.
When using that lens on the FF camera – huge vignetting will occur as the lens doesn’t cover full area of the sensor. Such effect is very popular nowadays ;)
I remember that this Tamron with EOS 350D took wonderful photos – I travelled with that configuration through South America twice. I was curious what will be the result of using it with 5D.
Of course the first test was compulsory selfie in the mirror – you can see it below. Later I took this lens for a short walk around – this wide setting – real 17mm is especially interesting.
Here is my X100S ready for the action…
Below photos from that short walk. It was hard to find something interesting on the such short distance, but I think It my the part of my practice how to show Bielany District in the interesting way. You can see hard vignetting on the photos. Circle is from the lens and this dark stripes at the top and the bottom are from the tulip lens hood… I think the effect is quite interesting. Check it below.
